What has been your favorite mistake?
Submitted by Runnergirlnot getting married 9 years ago. some remorse, no regrets. i got into a lot of shit after that fell through. but i grew up some too.
it would've been nice if it happened, yin. but i hope you've found what you were looking for.
i have a question for the floor.
this council of peers.
why was it
that when you
in your horror
cupped your faces in your hands
it was my innocence that slipped through your fingers?
am i that grotesque to you?
i who have done what you would have
were you in my place?
i did everything i was supposed to.
i did everything i was told.
told by you
my father
you
my friend
you my state who started this and now want it to end
you took this blank slate
and gave it its hue.
and now my remarks are off-colour?
you don't want to make me angry.
you wouldn't like it when i'm angry.
hulk smash.

Never have I felt as weighed down by the expectations of my forebears as I do now.
I'm sorry if you're not Malaysian and don't comprehend the title of this post. Let me break it down for you:
Both Nona Ili Roguy and Zombiebite have this thingamajig on their Voxes where you're supposed to do the following:
1) Grab the book nearest to you.
Okay. I landed on this:
Alright.
3) Find the fifth sentence on that page.
Uh huh.
4) Post the text of the next three sentences on your blog.
If you insist.
A small mongrel mutt, black and brown, races up to me, panting and sniffing.
He jumps up against my legs.
Twilight Actiongirl, also known as TAG, is a very popular DJ collective operating primarily in the Klang Valley area, with Zouk's The Loft serving as their Friday night base of operations. The four members of the outfit, DJ Bunga, Chasey Lain, DJ XU and DJ Ribut, have been credited for popularising elektroklash, indie and nu rave in Kuala Lumpur's club scene. They've also inspired other crews and events, such as Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (with DJ Raksaksa and The Fat Blonde) and Ethan Chu's Lapsap parties. The four are also very funny people, each in his own inimitable way.
First things first.
Sit yourself down. Slouch.
You're not trying to impress anyone here.
Ball scratch and sock fling
Fridge raid and channel flip
Your way onto the couch of all things that matter.
The news is on. Look at the outside and don't care.
Count the seconds til you have to leave.
Two thirds of every day for one third in your stash
A hope chest for a tomorrow
When the only thing going bad is you.
How many things will you chuck out the window
To make way for something else
You'll need to be out for years for?
Three AM.
You have til morning. Go to bed.
Stay under the sheets and pray for sleep.
Or at least peace for the soul you keep.
Try not to think
Of the sour milk cereal breath you'll have
When you're trying to get back in.
Welcome home.
On Thursday I had the extreme pleasure of being the designated photographer for Marie Claire Magazine's Editorial Note (I love you, Mindy, with all my heart and soul I do) and so was required to be in PJ to do the shoot. Nona Ili Roguy was my guide to Petaling Jaya/BluInc liason/bad pun victim, and after the shoot we walked to the Times Book Sale nearby.
Yes. I left the house to make money and ended up in a book sale. I am a damn fool.
I've never been to a book warehouse sale, so this was a revelation. Mile upon mile of books, all at least 50% off. Although I still can't get out of my comfort zone - dead white people with names only conscious rappers would give their sons - I still walked away with an impressively diverse haul. For someone with no job and sparse freelance gigs, the amount of money I spent was ludicrous. But twelve books, kind sirs. Twelve books.

Great to read this post. read more
